Drive to Glenorchy

The lakeside drive to Glenorchy from Queenstown is recognised as one of the ten most scenic drives in the world.

As the road winds along the lakeside, you will enjoy an ever-changing vista, through native beech forest, scrub and farming outposts. Make a point of stopping off at the Bennetts Bluff lookout, this is one of the most photographed spots in New Zealand so even if you don't stop to take your own pictures, be mindful of others that are.

The travel time to Glenorchy is approximately 45 minutes from central Queenstown, however we recommend allowing a minimum of 1 hour so you can stop off and capture some of the stunning scenery you are sure to spot along the way.

As you admire the spectacular views, please be mindful of other road users. If you wish to take photographs, please pull over to the side of the road where it is safe to do so.
